Messier 78 is a good example of reflection nebula type object and is located in Orion constellation. Instead of emitting light, these nebulae reflect the light from the nearby low energy stars. The bluish haze of M78 is one of brightest reflection nebulae out there and can be seen with simple binoculars around December. And it's a cradle for more than 40 very young stars, that are too cold to start their own hydrogen fusion just yet, which makes it a great place to study early star formations. Messier 78 was discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1780.
